Zhabdrung Kuchoe 2025
The Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal ceremony, also known as Zhabdrung Kuchoe, is a significant Bhutanese national holiday observed on the 10th day of the 3rd month of the Bhutanese calendar. It commemorates the death anniversary of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the spiritual and political unifier of Bhutan. The day is marked by special ceremonies, including reciting prayers and offering butter lamps in dzongs and monasteries throughout the country.
Today, on the auspicious 10th day of the third month in the Buddhist calendar, Bhutan solemnly observes Zhabdrung Kuchoe, commemorating the passing of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. To mark this sacred occasion, His Eminence, accompanied by Taiwanese students, conducted the Tshokhor (offering ritual) as a spiritual tribute. Following the ceremony, His Eminence also displayed the Nangtens—sacred relics—for the purpose of bestowing blessings upon all students in attendance. May the blessings received from these revered treasures bring each student good health, long life, happiness, and success in all their endeavors🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
