2025 Zhabdrung Kuchoe

Zhabdrung Kuchoe is a Bhutanese national holiday observed annually on the 10th day of the 3rd month of the Bhutanese calendar. It commemorates the anniversary of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, who unified Bhutan and established its dual system of governance. The day is marked by special ceremonies, prayers, and the lighting of butter lamps in dzongs and monasteries, honoring Zhabdrung’s legacy. 

On the 10th day of the third month in the Bhutanese lunar calendar, the nation solemnly observes Zhabdrung Kuchoe—commemorating the passing of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1651.
The Serzhong monastery joins citizens across the country in offering prayers for the peace and prosperity of our beloved King, the continued progress of the nation, and the well-being of all its people.
